About this blog
Many were the affectionate nicknames my family coined for me when I was young, all related to my trenchant insistence on accurate spelling, tireless advocacy for the sanctity of precise grammar and punctuation, and predilection to use words that were bigger than I really knew how to pronounce. Sadly, Ms. Grammarian was not one of these names.
Ms. Grammarian is my place on the internet where I write about books, writing, what I’m reading, and occasionally enthuse about words. Sometimes I sneak in a post about travel, life, or food.
I’m so glad you stopped by. I hope you’ll come back to find out what I’m reading, where I’m traveling, and whether or not I’ve finally learned my way around the kitchen, and to let me know what you’re up to, too. Because your comments really do make my day!
I love words, books, and Oxford commas. Also whoopee pies. I’m a librarian living in the Pacific Northwest with an imaginary German Shepherd called Captain Wentworth. As a child, I made up a language for me and my stuffed animals to speak amongst ourselves. My zeal quickly waned when I realized I would need a corresponding word for every word in the Dictionary, which I was probably reading at the time.
those nicknames were all the height of cleverness too. alas.
Words cannot describe my joy at happening upon your blog, Miss Grammarian!!!!
Glad I found your blog, Miss Grammarian! Looking forward to exploring it more. :)
Hi, you live “with an imaginary German Shepherd called Captain Wentworth”! I could see that I would enjoy your writings from that aspect. I found this blog by keywords “Brat Farrar fanfiction” and I am glad to find that I must read Mary Stewart’s “The Ivy Tree” thanks to you. I am from Tokyo, Japan.
Hello and welcome! The Ivy Tree is one of my favorites! I hope you enjoy it!
